kfp registry guide

I tried to specify what isn’t a necessity. Don’t feel like you need everything on this list, and feel free to look elsewhere too! These are simply suggestions of highly rated products and things I have come to find incredibly wonderful/useful/efficient after having 5 kids of my own!

I also explained why you may or may not want to register for certain items. It’s okay to include things on your registry even if it doesn’t get purchased for you. Make sure you download my FREE Registry Checklist to help you stay organized (it has a few extra bonus tips for you as well!)

I hope this is helpful! There are some registry tips at the bottom as well. Please let me know if you have any questions!

Many items in this guide come from specific stores, but you can also shop my full Amazon Storefront here in case things are out of stock when you are making your list.

BABY CLOTHES •

BABY CLOTHES •

It’s important to throw a few cute outfits on the registry that speak to you, otherwise keep it to the basics because newborn days are…..messy!). It’s also a good idea to register for 0-3months + in sizes, not just newborn size.

TIP: Everyone LOVES buying tiny newborn clothes, but they really only fit in these for a short while. You want to register for about 6-10 onesies/outfits in each size ( 0-3m, 3-6m, and even some 6-9m) to get you through for a while. Remember, you can always add more or return!

footie pajamas

1. CottonOn Sleepers $$ | PAtterned cottonon sleepers [ boy | girl ] $$

These are my favorite because they have a DOUBLE ZIPPER (easy-peasy diaper changes) AND many have fold over mittens. There are neutrals, pinks, florals, blues, and more!

2. BAMBOO JAMMIES $$

Bamboo jams are great for babies with eczema and sensitive skin, as they help regulate temp

long sleeve onesies

3. Basic White Cuff Sleeve Onesies $

These work well with any outfit/pants combo and they have the wonderful fold over sleeves so babies don’t scratch their face. I personally prefer these over using mittens, but either works! They are a hot commodity- I would buy stock in these if I could!

4. H&M Long Sleeve Onesies $$

These have super cute prints and patterns, but no cuff sleeves, so you may want mittens!

short sleeve onesies

5 & 6. Cloud Island Onesies $ [blue | pink]

These are still basic onesies that have a little pattern/color instead of just plain white. They have the life saving envelope shoulder flaps so you can pull the onesies down easily for blowouts instead of going over your baby’s head!

7. Carter’s Onesies with Envelope Sleeves $

These are basic white ones, and have envelope shoulder flaps like the ones above!

pairs of socks or booties

8. Luvable Soft Fleece Booties $

Babies really don’t need shoes. I said it! This is the closest I come to putting shoes on my babies. There are better ways to spend the money, trust me!

9. Gerber Baby Socks $

These seemed to stay on my babies’ feet best and come in multiple different colors. Honestly, I feel like you cannot have too many baby socks.

hats and headbands

The hospital provides you with a hat to go home with, they’re not essential, but if you want some cuter options to keep at home, check Etsy! You can even get them personalized and find different patterns that fit your lifestyle! I linked a few favorites below. Other great small shops for headbands are Bloom Headwraps, Eyee Co, and Turbans for Tots (all online too!)

10. Little K Shop Top Knot Hat $

I had one like this with my son and got so many compliments on it— it was adorable!

11. Dreshow Turban $$

I had something like this for Lou and always got compliments, it was so cute!

12. Knots Personalized Stocking Hat $$

I had one like this with my son and got so many compliments on it— it was adorable!

13. Ribbed Headbands $

Here is a pack of multiple color ribbed headbands we had for our girls and loved. They’re super soft and stretchy and didn’t leave a mark on their head.

For a full list of bows I loved with Blake, click here!

swaddle sacks/swaddle blankets

14. LouLou and Co Swaddle Blankets $$

These are hands-down my favorite to swaddle with if you’re looking for a traditional swaddle blanket! They have the cutest prints and colors, but the fabric is absolutely incredible!

15. Velcro Swaddle Sacks (3 Pack) $

These are easy for new parents to “swaddle” baby in!

16. WILD BIRD sleep sack $$

We love these! Perfect part of bedtime routine. Currently using sleep bag swaddler for Blake & sleep bag for teddy still!

17. Ollie Swaddle $$$

This is a hefty velcro swaddle that is easy to use and has an elastic tie at the bottom to place below baby’s feet so they feel “secure” in the swaddle sack.

“dressier” outfits in each size

It is so easy to find cute clothes for your baby anywhere from Target, Walmart, H&M, or cute little small businesses on Instagram & Etsy. If you want some inspo, I am always adding to my Like To Know It with things Blake is wearing! I have discounts at some of my favorite shops too, you can find those in the baby section of my discounts page here.

cold weather babes

If you have a cold weather babe, I love these teddy bear suits for fall & winter babes!

laundry detergent

This may be something you wouldn’t think about, but it’s a great idea to wash baby’s clothing in a hypoallergenic detergent in those early months (especially since their skin can be so sensitive!). Hypoallergenic and fragrance-free are important aspects to look for in baby detergent.

18. Puracy Hypoallergenic Liquid Detergent $$

This one is hypoallergenic and plant based, made for those with sensitive skin and allergies.

19. all free and clear Detergent $

Hypoallergenic, free of dyes + fragrances, and even has a stamp of approval from the American Eczema Association.

20. Branch Basics

We love this detergent for our sensitive skin babies! we switched when we realized our previous detergent was irritating our eczema babies’ skin & it’s been so helpful in reducing their flare ups! Our entire family’s laundry all uses this detergent!

stain remover

21. miss mouth’s messy eater stain remover (you can also grab a big bottle here!)$$

This spray is amazing! I bought it for my toddlers, but always found myself using it on blowout stains. It’s non-toxic and made by moms. You should be able to use discount code KARRIE10 for a discount on your purchase!

22. OxiClean Baby stain fighter $

This powder formula in similar to regular oxi-clean (miracle worker). It activates when you add water and works like a charm on those baby blowouts.

23. puracy stain remover $$

If you’re looking for a plant based, chemical and cruelty free option, this one has amazing reviews, is hypoallergenic and fragrance free. It uses plant enzymes to break down the stains!

diapering •

diapering •

All of the things you need for quick diaper changes. I’d keep some in the nursery on the changing table, but I highly recommend including these items on your “nursing/diaper cart” as well (if you’re unsure what I’m referring to, see my “nursing cart” highlight on IG!)

changing pad

1. Skip Hop Wipeable Changing Pad with Mobile $$

This mat is easy to wipe if messes happen during diaper changes, has a strap, and has a mobile over top to keep baby visually occupied while you change their diaper.

2. Hatch Baby Grow Changing Pad and Scale $$$

This is a 2 in 1 changing pad. It not only serves as a safe place to change your baby, but also a scale to weigh your baby. Here is my take: this can ease many parents’ worries about weight gain in those early weeks, but it can also be extremely anxiety inducing. It’s easy to become “obsessed” with weighing our babies too frequently, and we should not use this in place of pediatrician visits. Weights can also vary between scales, which can cause more stress for parents. Evaluate your wants and your needs first, then decide if this is for you!

3. Munchkin Waterproof Changing Pad $

This one is waterproof, has grips and a safety strap.

changing pad cover

Grab a few of these to fit whatever brand changing pad you have, because accidents happen and it’s nice to have extra on hand!

4. Babiease Linen Changing Pad Cover $$$

This is the one that is currently in Teddy's Surf Nursery + we love it!

5. Burt’s bees baby changing pad covers $$

Love this grey one we have used!

diaper cream

I like to have one for the diaper bag and one for the nursery. I also like having a barrier cream and a healing ointment, as they work differently for different scenarios.

6. Aquaphor ointment $

Healing ointment.

7. Sweet Cheeks diaper paste $$

Barrier cream.

diaper cream applicator

8. Dr. Talbots Silicone Diaper Cream brush

I personally don’t think this is necessary, as I’ve been putting diaper cream on forever without it, but if you want to keep your hands clear of diaper paste, this is applicator is for you!

diapers

9. Check out my big diaper comparison blog here for information on different diaper brands

Yes, put them on your registry, you really can’t have too many- as long as you ask for different sizes!

diaper pail

10. Ubbi odor locking diaper pail $$

If you want a place to throw diapers nearby that won’t stink, love this diaper pail because you DON’T NEED BAGS! Multiple colors available.

wipes

Yes, put them on your registry, you really can’t have too many!

11. Water Wipes $

Highly recommend WaterWipes since they’re not drying or irritating to the skin (99.9% water and 0.1% grapefruit seed extract), a good deal on a 12 pack. They go fast!

12. Kirkland Wipes $

These are a great budget friendly option if you have a Costco membership! It has tons of wipes per package and they’re nice and thick/wet.

13. Coterie $$$

I’ve used these and really loved them. They’re gentle and get the job done with no toxic ingredients.

14. Hello Bello $

I really love these. They’re gentle and no harsh chemicals on baby’s sensitive skin! You can get them in a bundle with diapers, or alone. They aren’t quite as thick or wet as I really love, but if you turn them upside down to store it definitely helps!

bathtime •

bathtime •

You really don't need too much for bathtime. There is no reason to complicate the bath, especially for newborns! I am linking a few of my favorite bathtime must-haves. You can absolutely register for a cute tub spout cover and toys, but you likely won't need them until a bit further down the road!

bath tub

I suggest looking for a tub that lasts as your baby grows.

1. Skip Hop Moby Bathtub with Sling $$

This tub can also be used from day 1 until baby is sitting up due to the sling insert! The whale tale on the back also helps with hanging to dry.

2. boon soak bathtub $

I love this one, as it can grow with your baby. It has a piece that goes under the bottom/knees to help them sit up. This can be switched as they age and taken out when they’re able to sit up independently. We have used it for all 3 kids, from newborn to sitting up on own!

3. Boon puff inflatable bath $$

This has been an absolute game changer this time! I started using when our fifth baby came home from the hospital and it’s been my first newborn that’s actually ENJOYED their bath! It has built in swaddle arms to keep your baby warm during their bath! It’s also easy to wash in the washing machine and deflate/pack for travel! Love love love!

soft washcloths

It’s nice to have soft gentle washcloths for washing baby. I also lay them across the parts of the body I am not currently washing to keep them warm!

4. Muslin washcloths (10 pack) $

These are soft and gentle on baby’s skin.

water pourer

5. Munchkin Rinse Shampoo Bath Rinser $

It’s nice to have this, but not a total necessity, as a cup works just fine too!

soap/shampoo

6. Tubby todd hair and body wash $$$

You all know what I’m going to say here. I will never use anything other than Tubby Todd’s Shampoo/ Body Wash. It’s gentle on my baby’s skin and doesn’t cause irritation or dry out from day one! You can get subtly scented or unscented.

lotion

7 & 8. tubby todd everyday lotion | all over lotion $$

I love the Tubby Todd lotion as well (this is a MUST if you’re treating cradle cap on your baby at any point as well as their All Over Ointment). I am not joking when I say that these 2 products cured 2 of my babies’ cradle cap issues in 2 treatments! Their AOO is a miracle in a jar + so nice to have on hand for eczema flare ups, dry skin patches, and cradle cap! If you get one thing from TT, it should be their AOO!

electric nail filer

9. electric baby nail filer with replacement heads + case $$

I will not recommend anything else for nails. No more cutting baby’s finger tips or dreading nail cutting! This is one of the greatest baby inventions! I have used it for all 5 babies and there’s no turning back.

soft comb/brush

A soft brush is great for brushing baby’s fine little hairs, but also for cradle cap (soft bristle).

10. Frida baby dermabrush $$

This one is great for cradle cap specifically.

11. basic fine tooth soft brush $

This one is great for gentle use during and after the bath. I love these, honestly (we use these for baby baths in hospital).

hooded towel

I prefer hooded towels when taking baby out of the bath. Babies lose heat fastest through their head! Having the little hood gives the ability to cover their head to trap heat and start drying their hair!

12. Cloud island hooded towel (3 Pack) | Girl | boy $

13. Animal hood towel | elephant | flamingo $$

These are always so cute and still get the job done!

14. Oneberrie hands free towel $$$

These have a clasp to keep the towel around your neck as you lift baby out of the tub to you— then towel wraps around baby with ease—they’re larger than normal infant bath towels. (Discount code: KARRIE15)

storage

15. Bath organizer Caddy $

A must for having what you need at your fingertips both during and after the bath! Plus, makes containing all the goodies much easier!

bath toys

I’d just register for a set of these, as a newborn doesn’t really need them and you can always get more as they grow!

16. ubbi freestanding toys and holder $$$

This includes bath toys and a draining holder for them!

17. munchkin floating bubble toys $$

These are nice because they keep baby’s attention and have no holes or crevices to attract mold!

18. First Years stacking cups $

nursery •

nursery •

These are some things you may need for the nursery, but you want to choose items that work with the vibe you're going for! You want your nursery to be you + baby's calm oasis!

crib

This is your choice! Parents love choosing the crib that suits their lifestyle and baby’s room best. Just remember to get a crib mattress, waterproof liner, and sheets as well! I’ll link some of these in the bedding section.

1. Babyletto Crib with Toddler Conversion Kit $$

I love this one because it passes the test for harsh chemicals, and converts to a toddler bed as your baby gets bigger!

bassinet

A bassinet is a great option if you plan on having baby sleeping in your room early on and want something that won’t take up much room. There are many wonderful options, these are top rated and have different aspects to each!

2. Newton Baby bassinet $$$

I love the simplicity of this bassinet. No bells and whistles and a completely washable mattress for those insane blowouts, pee leaks, or spitup!

3. graco pack n play playard $$

This has a bassinet, changing station, and pack n play all in one.

4. Halo bassinet $$$

Popular option, 360 swivel for easy access to baby at the bedside, adjusts height, waterproof mattress and includes 1 fitted sheet.

5. Chicco lullago portable bassinet $

Sleek and portable.

nightlight

I think it’s important to have access to a nightlight for midnight diaper changes and snuggles, but not necessary to leave it on all night, as babies sleep best when it’s completely dark.

6. vava touch to dim nightlight $

Okay, you all know I love this one! I love that it does NOT need to be plugged in, so you can keep it nearby for a midnight changing session, touch to dim or brighten to your pleasure. It’s so convenient!

7. easzzz baby nightlight $$

This is another great option that is portable, small, great for travel, gets extremely bright for the size, just flip the light over and it goes to “sleep” until you need it!

sound machine

To me, this is one thing that should NOT be overlooked! It doesn’t need to be anything crazy, but having the ability to have white noise in your home helps tremendously with baby sleep— not just them loving the noise, but white noise helps drown out any potentially disruptive background noise in your home that could wake baby. Portable linked down in “on the go gear”.

8. dreamegg d1 sound machine $

A few different options of white noise settings, fan noise settings, and nature sounds. I like having the option of fan noise and white noise (babies tend to like both.

9. hatch rest sound machine $$

This one is on the pricier end for a sound machine, but it is a sound machine AND nightlight combo in one, so keep that in mind! You can control the noise, start time, nightlight, etc. all through your phone!

crib mattress

Choose a standard crib mattress of your choice. Your crib mattress should fit securely in the crib with no gaps between mattress and crib rails, as this could pose a risk to baby.

10. Newton Baby breathable crib mattress $$$

This is the “trending” mattress right now, and for good reason! It is researched to be completely breathable. This is a pricier mattress, but it’s worth it to some parents for peace of mind. The cover zips off and can be easily washed!

11. midnight slumber little dreamer dual sided mattress $$

This one has a firm side for infants and a “softer” side as they transition to toddlerhood. You want the firmness with infants! Has a water resistant cover around mattress as well.

12. graco foam mattress $$

This is a common registry favorite and is on the less-expensive end as well! Foam mattress with water resistant cover that can be removed for washing.

baby monitor

Do your research and find what works best for your lifestyle! Some parents only want an audio monitor, some like visual and audio, and some like as many zoom-in and analytic capabilities as possible. All monitors are different!

13. motorola baby monitor $$

This one boasts 1,000 foot range, remote tilt, temp display, as well as ability to play lullabies.

14. hellobaby baby monitor $

Here is a non-wifi option!

15. nanit pro smart monitor $$$

This monitor is full of analytics and data. It tracks how your baby moves and analyzes these patterns to give you insight into your baby’s sleep! It’ll tell you how often they woke, how long they slept, and even gives you tips based on these patterns. Keep in mind, this does track through their app that you download (free the first year, then paid).

16. infant optics video monitor $$

This one has the ability to zoom in well on baby (which is great for those of us who like to peep on breathing often!), color display, has over 40,000 5 star amazon reviews, and long battery life.

17. long range audio only monitor $

This is only audio!

rocking chair/glider

This is great to have in baby’s nursery, or even your own room for calming down and soothing, as well as feeding your baby. These can be pricey, so it’s a great “group gift” for your registry, or something you can likely find on a mama buy sell trade group on Facebook!

18. windsor glider + ottoman $

If you’re looking for something simple and less expensive, yet comfortable and effective- I have used and liked this one! It has over 10,000 5 star reviews on amazon and comes in multiple color ways.

19. davinci olive glider + ottoman $$

This one passed the test for harsh chemicals, and has that perfect back height where you can actually rest your head (high back) when you’re relaxing with baby, plus it’s neutral so works for after baby too.

20. babyletto pillowback glider $$$

This one is well crafted, comfortable, and GOLD certified- passing the test for harsh chemicals; it is also waterproof and stain resistant and the cushions remove and wash easily.

cool mist humidifier

This is important to have on hand for when baby gets a runny nose or cold. It keeps the air moist and easier for babies to breathe by helping loosen secretions for easy suctioning as well.

21. crane humidifier $

This one is quiet and has variable speed settings based on amount of humidity you prefer.

22. fridababy 3-in-1 $

Humidifier with diffuser and nightlight- This is their new release that boasts a 3-in-1.

blackout curtains

24. double layered lined curtains $

These come in mostly darker colors, but are double lined and keep that sun out!

23. nicetown shading curtains $$

These come in multiple different colors and lengths to make it easy to find something to match your baby’s nursery!

bedding •

bedding •

Remember, your baby does not need anything in their crib. Stuffed animals, crib bumpers, pillows of any kind, extra blankets (aside from their swaddled blanket or sleep sack) are not approved for safe sleep by the AAP.

waterproof mattress liners

It’s important to have a few mattress pads on hand in case baby has a middle of the night blowout or leakage that you don’t want to get through to the mattress! It’s also nice to wash these often when baby is sick to help keep their bedding clean and sanitary during sickness!

1. lullaby baby earth breeze air mattress pad $$

THIS is perfection if you’re not able to splurge on a Newton breathable crib mattress. This is a chemical free, breathable mattress pad that fits any standard size crib mattress with the same ability to keep your child’s mattress breathable. It’s also prepped with waterproof backing for leaks or blowouts!

2. Water resistant spot pad $

These are pads, so they go under the fitted sheet and work best for babies who don’t move too much while they sleep (since they only cover part of the mattress!). They are a great option to have on hand for travel with your pack n play!

3. swaddlz waterproof mattress pad cover $

Made from bamboo (soft), yet still has waterproof backing.

fitted crib sheets

Crib sheets are soft and offer another layer of protection (though minimal) against leakage. Changing these when baby is sick is yet another way to keep their bed sanitary as well. Choose colors and patterns you enjoy or go with your nursery! The biggest rule is making sure they are tightly fitted to the crib mattress!

4. Muslin fitted crib sheet | Watercolor rose | planetary $

I love muslin sheets because they’re soft and thin! I adore these by Little Unicorn.

5. solly baby crib sheet $$

These are also incredible!

6. organic cotton fitted crib sheet $

Organic Cotton Fitted Crib Sheets- I like these because they’re soft and typically fit the crib mattress nice and snug. I have used these Burt’s Bee Baby sheets for all 3 of my babies!

feeding •

feeding •

This category can be a bit scattered, as before baby comes, we don't know what exactly their preferences are! Register for a few 'possibilities' with different brands so you can test them out with baby. You can always return the extras!

There are some specifications included for women who plan to breastfeed, and women who plan to formula feed!

bottles & nipples

There’s one thing to remember with bottles— there is NO “best bottle”— don’t register for multiple bottles of one brand. It’s hard to know exactly what your baby will like! I actually recommend registering for 1-2 of a few different brands. You can always return what you don’t use if needed!

Whatever bottle brands you decide to register for, also be sure to register for a few extra nipples, so you can keep up with cleaning more easily! Remember, it’s recommended to keep babies on a Level 1 nipple (slow flow) if breastfeeding. However, if you run into bottle refusals later down the road, sometimes going up a nipple size is an option to try (in my bottle refusal post/highlight!).

1. Dr brown’s bottles | Nipples $

These are wonderful classic bottles. I’ve used them in the NICU with premie babies often, as they’re good at helping baby pace themselves. I really like them, but they have a lot of pieces to clean just FYI!

2. Avent Natural Baby Bottles | nipples $$

These bottles can be helpful for breastfed babies going from breast to bottle as there is a gradual change from base to nipple!

3. Evenflo glass bottles | nipples $$

These are environment-friendly, anti-colic, and a less expensive option that seems to work for many parents!

4. comotomo bottles | nipples $$

These were great for my breastfed babies and made the transition easy between breast and bottle.

dishwasher basket

These are so nice when it’s time to throw those bottle parts and small pieces in the dishwasher! Even as your child grows, these are great for cup toppers and straws as well, but have specific spots to place bottle nipples and bottle pieces too!

5. dr brown’s holder $

This one holds 3 sets of bottle pieces for Dr. Brown’s bottle parts.

6. boon clutch holder $

Keeps all of my small pump/bottle pieces contained in the dishwasher!

burp cloths

You want to have alllll the burp cloths on hand whether you’re breast or bottle feeding— babies tend to spit up when you least expect it! It’s also great when they’re first learning to bottle feed, as sometimes formula/milk can dribble out the sides of their mouth.

7. muslin burp cloths $$

I love these because they’re soft and absorbent.

8. baebae burp cloths $

These are made from super soft jersey cotton and come in some cute neutral prints.

pacifiers

This category is up to you! If you aren’t wanting to introduce a Paci, skip it, but if you think you may— I suggest registering for a few diff kinds because (like bottles) babies tend to like some and not love others. These are some of the favorites of me, personally, as well as some of the LC’s I work with, not saying they’re the best choice for you, just some options!

9. Ecopiggy ecopacifier $$$

This one is a bit more “eco-friendly” if you’re looking for a natural option.

10. ryan & rose pat pacifier $$

Made of all soft silicone and transitions to a “teething toy” as baby ages.

11. MAM Pacifier $

This is the one I used with all of my babies and went between breast and pacifier seamlessly.

wash basin

You want to wash pump and bottle parts in their own basin to prevent bacterial contamination.

12. collapsible wash basin $

This one collapses and stores easily!

bottle brush

Depending on the bottle you buy, some brands will offer a bottle brush specifically for their bottles. Some do not! Here are a few general favorites.

13. haakaa silicone brush kit $$$

This one is silicone so it doesn’t hold bacteria or mold! I absolutely love this one!

14. phillips avent bottle brush $$

This is your basic, yet effective bottle brush. It has a rounded edge and easily fits in most bottles. I don’t know why its pricier for being so basic, but it works well and I have used this when working in the NICU and cleaning bottles often— loved it!

drying rack for bottles and pieces

After washing all those small bottle parts and pieces, it’s best to let them air dry. Getting one of these to perfectly hang all those bottles, pieces, and parts to dry is incredibly helpful.

15. munchkin high capacity drying rack $

This one is convenient because of the multi-level design which allows you to adjust the height to fit multiple size bottles and cups!

16. Boon lawn drying rack $

This one has a tall peg for all the nipples and small pieces to hang, and a silicone “grass-like lawn” for the bottles to sit upright and dry.

17. oxo tot drying rack $$

This one has pegs for bottles and nipples, & a small basket for brushes, or small pieces.

18. travel bottle drying kit $$

If you’re leaving town with baby, this will be your right hand gal for cleaning bottles in a new place! We took this to California on vacation with teddy and loved it! Super small and compact, but can fit everything in it- including soap!

bibs

Okay, so first off, did you know that there are 2 different types of bibs? There are bibs for starting solids (food bibs) and bibs for drooling babies (drool bibs) which are softer and thinner, but prevent baby’s clothes from getting soaked with drool.

19. Long sleeved bibs $$

I LOVE a good shirt bib, this covers their shirt and arms, is wipeable and washable, and has a slot for food catching.

20. copper pearl bandana drool bibs $$

These are my favorite because they catch the drool, absorb well, and have cute prints and patterns to go with simple onesies.

21. 360 drool bibs $

These are meant to go around baby in a complete “ring” so when one area gets saturated, you just rotate the bib to another dry area! They are also more inexpensive with multiple prints.

22. muslin drool bibs $$

I love these because they’re neutral, absorbent, soft, and gentle on baby’s skin.

23. Ava and oliver silicone eating bibs $$

These come in multiple colors!

24. Silicone eating bibs $$

I love these because they’re super easy to clean (wipeable) and they have a pocket to catch food that misses the mouth!

formula feeding •

formula feeding •

Talk with your pediatrician about the best choice for you and your baby!

formula container

This is nice to have for keeping your powdered formula on the go!

1. Skip Hop Stackable formula dispenser $

2. accmor stackable formula dispenser $

formula mixing pitcher

3. dr brown’s formula mixing pitcher $

A formula pitcher is great for mixing formula to disperse directly into bottles!

bottle warmer

I don’t feel bottle warmers are a complete necessity if mostly breastfeeding, as you can warm up the occasional bottle in a cup of warm water when needed— BUT if you’re looking for quick/efficient, or you feed multiple bottles per day, or baby is finicky with bottle temp, it can be really nice to have! I think it’s important to find one with automatic shut off so they don’t overheat. I also think it’s good to have a portable one for on the go if you use one often at home. The next page shows some top picks of each!

4. kiinde bottle warmer $

This one is popular among many mamas! It is large enough to fit wider bottles like the Como Tomo, has auto shut off, and heats up in about 3-5 minutes.

5. baby brezza formula pro $$

This one has multiple different features for heat, including a slow and steady warming for breastmilk so it doesn’t damage nutrients— which you can control from the warmer or even an app on your phone!

6. tomee tippee portable bottle warmer $

This one is more inexpensive and easy to use on the go. You add warm water to the stainless cup and it keeps the water warm for a while, so you can heat your bottle in it when you need it! No batteries, electricity, etc!

7. baby brezza safe + smart bottle warmer $$

This one has multiple different features for heat, including a slow and steady warming for breastmilk so it doesn’t damage nutrients— which you can control from the warmer or even an app on your phone!

8. Little bo baby portable bottle warmer $$

If you’re making bottles on the go often, this comes in handy for a quick warm up!

breast pump

1. breastpump

If you don’t have insurance, or insurance isn’t covering breast pumps (they should be!!), then this is great to register for. Talk with your OB + LC, as well as do research of your own and what you think you will need to choose! You can also check out my breast pump comparison guide here!

milk storage bags

If you plan to breastfeed (especially pump at any point), it’s a great idea to have a few storage bags on hand for building up your “freezer stash” before returning to work, or just to have saved for date nights when you’re away from baby! These bags are sterile and specifically made for breastmilk, as well as the freezing and thawing process.

2. lansinoh freezer bags $

These are my favorites. I used them with all 3 babies and never had issues.

3. haakaa silicone freezer bags $$

These are a great reusable option, comes as a 5 pack.

milk storage center

This helps keep pumped milk organized in the fridge. It also helps us and our partners/ caregivers to know which milk is oldest (use first) and newest (use last) based on the arrows!

4. medela storage center $$

This thing is the real deal for breastfeeding mothers! It comes with the storage container for the fridge, Medela storage bottles and lids, as well as lids with day of week/time of day to be specified by turning a dial. This is another must-have I used through all 4 babies!

reusable nursing pads

Nursing pads are little circle pads that sit in your bra to catch leaking milk when you’re not nursing (so that it doesn’t soak your bra). You can choose between disposable and reusable, but the main key is making sure you change them frequently— otherwise nipple thrush can occur quickly (happened to me!).

5. kindred bravely reusable nursing pads $

These are washable, comfortable, and easy to use!

6. reusable bamboo nursing pads $$

These come with pads, covers, and a laundry bag! They are washable and reusable, soft, and safe for mama and baby. I loved these!

milk thermos

7. ceres chill $$$

I like having the ceres chill thermos for pumping on the go or even at night next to my bed! Fill the inner chamber full of ice, then you can add your freshly pumped milk in to keep it cold for hours! Must be okay with mixing milk temps to use! See my highlight on this evidence here.

nipple cream

If you plan to breastfeed, I suggest having a nipple cream on board, especially in those first few weeks! It’s soothing, helps heal, and protects those nips! Some LC’s or friends of yours may suggest Lanolin, which is another good one, I just never have much luck with it helping much! I like the two below. If things worsen, talk with your LC but there are plenty of other devices/ointments/pads to help! These are basic but effective!

8. earth mama nipple butter $

This is a lanolin-free more natural option (no petroleum, parabens, etc, so no need to wash off before nursing) that so many love!

9. tubby todd ‘mama’ nipple butter $$

disposable nursing pads

10. disposable lansinoh nursing pads $

The backside of these can stick to your bra so they’re not sliding around and never made me itchy.

11. nanobebe disposable nursing pads $

These are neat because the box has thin pads for daytime and thicker/super absorbent pads for nighttime. Honestly, I felt like I needed extra absorbent always, but if you don’t, these might be for you!

nursing pillow

This was always a “must” for me! Pillows work fine too, but this is just one pillow that you can take anywhere, wraps around your side that baby can lay on while nursing, and gets the job done.

12. snuggle me feeding pillow $$

This one is a “crescent shaped” pillow similar to the Boppy, but less firm and conforms to the body. I liked using this periodically with teddy As it brought him up closer to the chest more easily. It’s also pretty sturdy! As they get bigger it can get a bit more cumbersome!

13. boppy $

The original Boppy is a rounded pillow the conforms to your body- I have used mine with all 4 kids for months and months.

14. my breast friend $

This one is a more ergonomic pillow that clips around your body (many of you say it slides around less than the Boppy!), it looks like the perfect flat area for baby to lay comfortably while nursing. I haven’t tried myself, but many of you rave about it so I had to include it!

milk collector

15. medela breast shells $

These are an option if you’re looking for something to catch small leaks or help heal sore nipples (so they aren’t rubbing on your bra).

16. elvie curve $$

I loved the Elvie Curve with my fourth baby! It sits in your bra (so baby can’t kick it off) suctions to the breast and collects milk during feedings on the other side (like the haakaa) but with a gentler suction! I used it often!

17. haakaa milk collector $

This suctions onto one breast while nursing on the other side to collect letdown (instead of it wasting in your bra!), holds around 4oz.

health •

health •

These are a few goodies you may plan to have one hand for 'just in case' purposes. It's nice not having to worry about running out in the middle of the night if your baby is sick, or having the tools to help suction your baby when they're congested. You can always grab more as your pediatrician recommends!

saline mist

It’s important to have saline mist or drops in order to loosen up mucus in a congested baby, this helps make suctioning more effective. I prefer spray over drops, as it’s a bit easier to administer!

1. Little Remedies saline Mist $

This is our favorite! It’s easy to use and moisturizes while flushing out nasal sinuses and helping breakdown mucus.

2. zarbee’s nasal mist $

This one has aloe as another component to prevent drying out the nasal cavity.

3. Mommy’s Bliss saline drops $

baby thermometer

This is so important to have on hand! If you’re ever questioning baby’s temp or worried about a fever, you want an accurate way to check! The ear thermometers are more accurate once baby is 6 months + due to a small ear canal per the AAP.

4. vicks speedread digital thermometer $

This speed read thermometer gets you the info you need quickly and accurately! It also gives you a color based on the temp (green, yellow, red). We use and love this one because it can be used rectally (with prove covers) or axillary.

5. Vicks baby rectal thermometer $

infant tylenol

6. infant tylenol $

This isn’t a must if you’re wanting to avoid giving your baby medicine, but I personally liked having it on hand, as many times when our babies had a fever and we called our pediatrician, we were typically advised to give a dose and monitor. **Always talk with your pediatrician first!*

nasal aspirator

You want to have a few of these on hand. I prefer to have 2-3 bulb syringes (you typically will get 1 leaving the hospital) and 1 nasal aspirator. The bulb syringes are nice to have in mom’s room, nursery, diaper bag in case of spit-ups! It’s a nice and quick way to suction their mouth so they don’t choke. The nasal aspirator is great for when baby is congested/stuffy nose/ runny nose to help clear them out!

7. innovo twist bulb syringe $$

This one works just as the hospital bulb syringe, but is much easier to clean as it twists apart!

8. waltot baby electric nasal aspirator $$

If you don’t want to worry about manually sucking snot, this may be for you! This device works to help suction out baby’s nose automatically— preferring that you first use a saline spray to loosen snot!

9. frida baby snot sucker $$

I know some parents aren’t comfortable with this method, but I personally love it and feel that it works very effectively! There are hygienic filters in place to prevent any snot getting to the adult’s mouth! You insert the tapered end to baby’s nostril (it prevents from inserting too far), and place the end of the tube in the adult’s mouth and suck!

simethicone (mylicon) drops

Again, these aren’t a must, but I always found them nice to have on hand to help break down gas and relieve some tummy discomfort. Look for “simethicone” as the active ingredient, this is deemed safe for babies!

10. Little remedies gas relief drops $

11. mommy’s bliss gas relief drops $$

This is a nice natural option with simethicone too!

vitamin d drops

12. wellements vitamin d drops $

These are Vitamin D by itself (and free from alcohol, parabens, etc.) and your newborn only needs 1 drop per day.

13. mommy’s bliss vitamin d drops $

These are also Vitamin D alone and do not require refrigeration after use.

probiotic drops

Again, these aren’t a must for all, but I love them. These drops are for helping baby’s immature gut function and improving digestive health. Some companies claim it can help reduce gas and constipation (which means less fuss!)

14. gerber soothe probiotic drops $$

15. wellements probiotic drops $$

baby gear •

baby gear •

There are some necessities you need when it comes to gear, but with each item, there is a lot to take into account! Consider your car type, house size/space, how many children you have, what exactly you're looking for, and go from there!

These are a few suggestions, but please note that you may like something else better or feel something else works better for your family and that's absolutely okay!

infant car seat & bases

Remember, a less expensive car seat does not mean it’s less safe. Many of the super expensive car seats have more bells + whistles, but they’re not necessary for safety. I will link a few that I have heard great things about, but think it’s important you do research on what you’re looking for and how that would work with your car!

1. Chicco keyfit 30 car seat | base $

Some of my girlfriends have this system and say that it’s easy to install, has a built in “level” for installation and safety, and fits babies 4lbs-30lbs safely.

2. Nuna pipa rx car seat & base $$

We used this car seat with Teddy and absolutely loved it. It is lightweight & compatible with our mockingbird stroller!

strollers/ stroller systems

It’s nice to get a “system” instead of a separate car seat and stroller. When you see the term “travel system”, it’s usually referring to a car seat that can click right onto a stroller with ease. This makes it easy to be on-the-go with your baby. Your infant car seat (pumpkin seat) can click out of the base from your car and go right onto the stroller, vice versa! This is SO nice.

3. mockingbird stroller $$$

This stroller is one of my favorites! It is a single to double stroller with plenty of amenities to choose from. We have used and loved ours for years with our growing family! They offer multiple different car seat adapters, so your specific car seat can click right onto the stroller! You can also choose from their other seating options as well for older babies and toddlers! I feel like there is tons of room for variation to make the stroller exactly what you want it to be. We have five kids and use this stroller as a double stroller With the riding board for whichever kid doesn’t feel like walking. It strolls well on most surfaces!

4. doona car seat/ stroller $$$

I heard rave reviews, so decided to try it! We love the ease and simplicity of it! It’s also amazing for travel. The Doona is a car seat that clicks into a base like any other when the stroller legs are folded up, but the stroller is attached and pops out with just a few clicks. It works for babies 4-35lbs. It’s basically an all-in-one instead of a separate stroller that needs set up and a car seat that has to click into it! This may be great for one child, or if you have a baby who has older siblings (aren’t ever needing a double stroller). The downfall I see here is needing an entire new system once baby outgrows the height and weight limit!

high chair

5. stokke tripp trapp high chair $$$

A lot of parents like this one because of its sleek look and ability to pull right up to the table (so baby can eat with everyone else!). It’s very pretty, safe, and grows with your child. The downfall is, there are add-ons— which means more $$, and the seat is pretty expensive to begin with!

6. graco blossom high chair $

My friend has this one and I really like it! It has a 5 point harness, and is a combo booster seat + high chair! It has a footrest as well. The padding is easy to take off and wash as needed, but does create some extra work. My friend was able to use the booster for her toddler, while using the highchair for her baby, which was nice!

infant carrier/ wrap

This really can be a personal preference! I know it’s hard to determine ahead of time what will work best for you, but look a few of these up and see what you think you’d be most comfortable with! I do have a tutorial for how to put on a fabric wrap and ring sling in my IG “baby wearing” highlight! When you’re comfortable with wearing your baby, it becomes such a treasure to be hands free and close with your baby— esp during those fussy periods— it offers a quick calm!

7. solly baby fabric wrap $$

This is hands down my favorite wrap for newborns until about 3/4 months (though it can be used much longer!). It’s lightweight, keeps baby close, feels supportive, and has a supportive resting place for baby’s head (they don’t have head control yet). There are many fabric wraps, but this one has always been my favorite through all 5 children!

8. ergobaby structured carrier $$$

If you’re looking for a supportive structured carrier that doesn’t have as much of a learning curve, this one is nice! You can wear baby facing in or out!

9. ergobaby embrace carrier $$

This is the perfect mix between a fabric wrap and a structured carrier. It’s soft and comfortable for mom and baby, easy to put on, good support.

10. wildbird ring sling $$

This is what I like to use once my babies are 5+ months old, have good head control, and like facing outward! You can wear baby on your hip (to the side) or tummy to tummy. You can use this as a newborn as well, I just find it a bit harder to keep their head supported (though it’s doable!).

You can see a few other carriers and wraps I love and use here!

play gym

This is a floor mat with an arch of toys/things for baby to look at, swat at, listen to and study as they develop! They typically have patterns and colors, toys and mirrors, plays music, etc. I thought this was a silly idea at first, but ALL of my babies have absolutely loved their play gyms— and we have tried many, always going back to the same 2!

11. lovevery play gym $$$

To me, this is worth it’s weight in gold! I love baby items that have longevity (especially when paying higher prices) and this one does! It’s made to last baby through their first year! Comes with little add-ons as baby grows and becomes more tactile, but even the basics have the perfect high contrast toys, patterns, crinkles, and colors to help baby learn and develop. Great for tummy time and back time.

12. fisher price play gym $

This one is less expensive, but serves a similar purpose! It is a bit more noisy and bright, but does have little piano keys that play music when your baby kicks them! It also has the arch of hanging toys and plays music.

13. skiphop play gym $$

We used this one with Lou and she absolutely loved it! It has high contrast patterns, lights in different colors, 4 soft hanging toys to swat at, crinkly bottom, and plays soft music while they lights move. Easy to put together and take down/wash when needed!

bouncer or swing

Some parents like both a bouncer and a swing, some prefer just having one, and some parents want to splurge on an “all-in-one”. It’s not a “necessity”, but it is nice to have a safe place to set your baby when you need a moment, or a nice option to help soothe your baby when nothing else seems to be working. It’s important to remember that babies don’t need to spend too much time in their swing or bouncer, as they need floor time/tummy time/ and lots of snuggles and interaction to aid in development much more!

14. munchkin baby swing $$$

I am only including this option because if you have small space, or like to travel a lot, this is a super compact/lightweight and easy to disassemble option! It swings back and forth, plays white noises or music from your phone, and can be controlled with an app through your phone as well. It’s easy to take down and pack up, or move room to room.

15. graco duetsoothe swing/ rocker $$

This combo (swing and bouncer) offers many features at a less expensive price with sounds and music, 2 option swinging motion, vibration settings, toys, etc. You can use it as a swing or take the seat out to be used as a bouncer around the house. It comes highly touted by parents!

16. ingenuity bouncer $

This is a simple bouncer with vibrating options, music options, and dangling toys. This does not swing.

17. 4moms momaroo swing $$$

This is the swing I have used with all my babies. This swing has multiple different motions to sway your baby, aside from back and forth (waves, figure 8, etc) and can swing slow or fast (you set the speed). It does not vibrate, but my babies tend to like the motion better. It does come with overhanging soft blocks that you can switch from high contrast patterns (newborns) to color patterns (a few months old). This swing can also play white noises, or you can hook up your phone to play music of your choosing. It is a larger/heavier swing, so isn’t really made to move from room to room.

18. maxi cosi baby bouncer $$

This bouncer isn’t battery powered or need to plug in, as the bouncing movements are generated all by your baby kicking their legs and moving their arms.

pack n play

This is a playard (enclosed firm mattress area) that is great for containing baby as they age and want to play! Many of these are great for travel sleep as well. Some of these serve as a bassinet/ changing station/ playard, which is amazing! We always take our pack n play to my in-law’s lake house for our baby to sleep on the firm, flat mattress.

19. dream on me portable playard $

This one is your basic playard that folds and transports easily.

20. guava lotus travel pack n play $$$

This one is perfect for frequent travelers! It folds up easily, is lightweight, and compactly fits into a backpack carrying case.

21. graco pack n play twin bassinets $$

This one is for the mamas expecting twins! It comes with two bassinets with the placard, instead of just one!

22. graco quick connect pack n play playard $$

This one is an all in one: pack n play, bassinet (infant), and changing station all in one!

23. 4moms pack n play $$$

This one is super easy to set up and take down with one hand. It comes with the bassinet and changing station to use as needed. The mattress is firm for safe sleep and the sides are mesh for air circulation. It folds up compactly into a carrying case— this is the one I registered for with my first and have used through all 4 kids!

on-the-go gear •

on-the-go gear •

Leaving the house with your baby can be extremely anxiety-inducing-- but doesn't have to be! Here are a few things I like to have on hand when leaving the house with baby! Add what you need and remove what you don't!

diaper bag

For my first few kids, I was Fawn Design’s biggest supporter! I would still recommend the Fawn Design Original Diaper bag to anyone looking for a traditional diaper bag! After 5 kids, one think I know is for a full diaper bag, having the option to also wear it as a backpack is a must! The Fawn Design allows me to still feel stylish, and has room for the things I need for all my kids. The mini size is great if you’re looking for something small and simple for 1 child. I will also link the knockoff of this bag if you’re not able/wanting to spend, but I cannot speak to the quality because I have never used it. With Blake, I have strayed from the normal diaper bags a little bit, and love using some of these as diaper bag alternatives!

1. Miss fong diaper bag $

2. fawn design original diaper bag $$

This size allows me to pack for all 5 kids, has bottle holders, zips, backpack or shoulder bag carry, vegan leather (wipeable inside and out), multiple pockets.

3. fawn design mini diaper bag $$

Same as above, but smaller.

portable sound machine

4. Hatch portable white noise machine $$

Love that I can easily clip this wherever I need & it has awesome battery life for a portable!

5. dreamegg nightlight $$

This one has a built in nightlight and multiple sounds for white noise and nature sounds!

6. rohm white noise $$$

This one has a few settings and comes with a lanyard to attach to your stroller.

7. homedics my baby dream spa $$

Multiple options on this one as well!

stroller blankets

One of the things I have learned in having 5 kids is making sure you always have a blanket designated for the stroller (AKA it doesn’t leave the stroller unless you’re washing it). This can be as simple as a swaddle you already have, or a heavier blanket specified for the stroller (depending on weather where you live). I will link a few, but either way, designate it for the car seat/stroller so you always have it when you’re out (one less thing you need to pack in the diaper bag!)

8. waffle blanket $

9. TSC X MADI NELSON: CHILDREN'S MINI CHECKERED BUTTERY BLANKETS $$$

Our go to blanket for the carseat/stroller; cute and warm!

10. emily + merritt stroller blanket $$$

11. burt’s bees stroller blanket $$

on-the-go changing pad

12. arm & hammer disposable changing pads $

These are great for on the go changes! Pack a few in your bag before you head out for those unexpected blowouts! These can be thrown away after.

13. ubbi on the go changing mat $

This bag contains a wipeable changing mat that is able to hook to your stroller with a small snap, or throw in your diaper bag!

14. skip hop changing case $$

Here is another reusable changing mat + wipes case option!

15. fawn design changing clutch $$$

This is a clutch bag (which fits right in your diaper bag) has a wipeable changing mat and portable wipes case!

portable stroller fan

16. octopus stroller fan $$

This is our favorite— I love that is has “legs” that wrap around any surface you need it to and points exactly where you want it to!

17. skygenius clip fan $

This one has a clip form to attach where you need, and it can rotate!

diaper baggies

These are essential in my opinion! In case baby has a blowout while you’re out, and you’re unsure about where to dispose of this smelly mess, you can put in a “doggie bag” first, then dispose. This helps mask the odor and contain the mess before you dispose of it! It’s great when you’re out somewhere without trashcans near, or a guest at someone’s house.

18. ubbi retractable diaper baggies and dispenser $

These are lavender scented and comes with the container/ dispenser for easy access!

19. munchkin diaper baggies $$

These are made to deodorize and contain the baby blowout diaper and smell. Comes with a container/ dispenser for the baggies too.

car seat cover

Car seat covers aren’t a “necessity”, especially if you don’t live in a cold weather environment. Please do not use these with baby out in the heat, as they can trap heat in the car seat!). If looking for shade in the car seat/stroller, use the car seat manufactured shade cover.

20. copper pearl car seat cover $

I like this one because it’s thin and stretchy, but can also be used as a nursing cover if you choose!

21. milk snob car seat cover $$

This is similar to the one above and offers other prints, but is a bit pricier!

milk cooler

It’s good to have one of these to keep your milk cold while you’re out so it doesn’t spoil before use! This will also be great to have when you return to work and are possibly pumping milk for your baby throughout the day! I like to have one for mama to take to work and one to send with baby to daycare (which can also be used during errands on the weekend)!

22. skip hop cooler $$

We use this for being on the go with baby/bringing pumped milk on errands to keep cool, as well as use it as the “daycare cooler” when sending milk to daycare! It’s insulated but didn’t come with an ice pack!

23. medela cooler $$

I have used this one when I return to work for storing my pumped milk and keeping it cool. It comes with the insulated cooler (holds 4-5oz Medela bottles), a contoured ice pack that goes in the middle, and 4-5oz Medela bottles!

toys •

toys •

I think it's a nice idea to register for a few age-appropriate toys. Remember, newborns love high contrast patterns-- and as they age a few months, it's nice to have some easy-to-grab + safe-to-chew toys (because once they find their hands, that's all they want to do!). It's a great way to encourage their motor development and let them explore their senses!

tummy time toys

1. tummy time water play mat $$

I love this! It’s a mat filled with water/gel and small objects that baby can touch and push on, which causes movement in the water. It’s very tactile and visually appealing!

2. lovevery subscription $$$

This is a bit of a pricier option, but if you’re able to register for a subscription to Lovevery— do it! I have purchased multiple boxes from them and my babies and toddlers LOVE each one! It is perfectly curated for your baby’s age and development. They provide toys to help aid in this development and keep babies engaged through positive play. My babies always preferred these toys more than the loud, noisy toys (though we do have some of those too!)

3. tummy time high-contrast book $$

This comes as a standing book with high contrast images and a mirror page for babies to gaze at during tummy time!

teething toys

4. teething keys $

These are perfect for throwing in the fridge/freezer to get cold and let your teething baby chew away!

5. ball $$

This is easy for babies to hold onto & chew on because of the spacing!

6. sophie the giraffe $$$

Babies love this! It’s easy to hold, chew on, and squeaks!
