Teddy's Surf Nursery

So, I wasn’t going to do a “theme” in Teddy’s nursery to begin with. I wanted to keep it neutral (since we didn’t know sex of baby before delivery), and we had just moved into our new house, so I was still getting used to that as well. Our previous crib (which we used for our first 3 kids) got damaged in our move and we were using the nursery dresser in the girls’ room, so knew we needed to get a new crib + dresser for this baby’s room. I was drawn to the mid century modern look with darker woods and clean lines. I just felt like there were so many decorating avenues I could go with it!

Therefore, the furniture pieces were my starting point in the blank canvas. I also got the swivel chair, (which was sold out everywhere—finally restocked!) that I really really wanted! I loved that it had a comfortable high back, where I can actually lean back and rest my head while nursing or rocking my baby. With dark furniture to contrast, I wanted to add in some lighter accents to keep it “neutral”. Then, when Teddy actually arrived, things just shifted as far as decor. I struggled knowing what I wanted to do. Finally, I decided to take inspo from one of my favorite sleepers of his from The Willow Co. His sleeper has surf vans on it and makes me think of beach life/surf life/my dream (I am a beach girl stuck in the Midwest-ha!) and it made me so happy!

No Wake Zone

Anyway, I found a corresponding wallpaper I loved, then a surf Bronco photo, then a “No Wake Zone” sign (which is a fun pun for a sleeping baby) and things just rolled from there! I have LOVED putting his nursery together, and I feel like it represents him so well- he’s such a chill, cool dude! This little guy is just the perfect babe for a surf nursery— laid back, chill, and social! Fun fact: I have always, always, always wanted to live near a beach (like within a 15 mile radius). It’s forever been a dream of mine and something I still pursue by asking my husband if we can move almost daily- ha! Not just because of the beauty, but the lifestyle as well. I’d love to raise our kids by the ocean! Hoping I can get Mark on board soon, but here we are close to family and I know that’s not something we would have close if we moved.

At least I have Teddy’s little oasis for now!

I hope you enjoy this space, and maybe it’ll give you some inspo too! Everything is linked below—enjoy!
