Aunt Britt's Oreo Dirt Pudding Trifle

Ingredients

  • 2 (14.5) ounce packages Oreo cookies about 70 cookies (I only used 1 package of Oreos)

  • 3 Tablespoons butter, softened (I used 1 stick of butter at room temp)

  • 8 ounces cream cheese, softened2

  • 2 (3.5) ounce packages of instant vanilla pudding mix (I subbed for cheesecake pudding)

  • 3 1/2 cups milk

  • 16 ounces Cool Whip

Instructions

  1. Pulverize cookies into fine crumbs using a food processor. (I just crushed them with a rolling pin #improvise)

  2. Cream softened butter and cream cheese together until smooth; set aside.

  3. In a large bowl, stir together both packages of pudding mix and milk; stir in Cool Whip (I let this set in the fridge for about 3 mins to get to *pudding consistency" before adding cool whip)

  4. Combine cream cheese and pudding mixtures and stir until smooth.

  5. In a large trifle bowl, alternate layers of pulverized cookies and pudding, starting and ending with the cookies.

Notes

  • Margarine can be substituted for butter.

  • Both the butter and cream cheese need to be softened to prevent lumps.
